Creation of kitchen and bathrooms in a villa on lake Lugano, Switzerland

Using One/K.One collections, RiFra has designed a lakeside villa that has been comprehensively refurbished.

The design’s guiding theme, in accordance with the customer’s wishes, was to combine the contemporary design of RiFRA’s ONE and K.ONE collections with the great elegance and prestige of the location.

The kitchen’s design involves an island, equipped with a snack counter, which faces a free-standing wall of column cabinets.

The columned cabinet wall has an opaque lacquered finish. It is supplied with interior countertops and shelving that may be pulled out and then concealed behind folding doors.

The columns have been fitted with ovens, a refrigerator-freezer, and a wine cellar.

Providing access and freedom of movement to the window behind the columns has been a requirement that has involved a high degree of complexity in terms of design and execution.

The island presents the characteristic ONE collection design, which is found once again in the bathroom.

Tops, sides, and baseboards are beveled with 45° angled edges, and accompany the 25 mm [1 inch] thick doors, which are also beveled at a 45° angle.

The island design is completed by a MDF baseboard that is only 6 cm [2-3/8 inches] in height and is also beveled at a 45° angle.

The island’s countertop, beyond the flush-mounted sink, includes induction cooktops with a recessed venting hood. Its motor is concealed inside the cabinet, so as not to have encumbrances overhead when cooking, while it eliminates bothersome odors and fumes.

The island’s snack counter is in Oak. Several electrical outlets have been inserted in front of the functional area.

The bathrooms have been appointed with K.ONE collection fixtures, and have the same design as the kitchen, with distinctive 45° angle beveled edges.

The two master bathrooms have been fitted with cabinets housing built-in washbasins. These, too, are perfectly shaped, and include a LED-lit and mirrored storage unit.

In the guest bathroom, instead, the clients have selected a vessel sink with a simple backlit LED mirror.

The German clients, owners of the property, were very pleased with our work, and have commissioned us to design kitchens and bathrooms for another of their villas. When these works are complete, we will interview the clients on their impressions and make the interview available online.
