It’s classic, clean and radiant. It brightens up small spaces, and gives off a very romantic vibe.

K.ONE cabinet, double drawer, pure white lacquered.

However, it can also be downright boring. If you are looking for a modern but timeless bathroom, a combination of grey and white is what you are looking for. White and grey work in perfect symbiosis, lifting each other up in times of need but always sharing the space in harmony. A bathroom with this color combination is elegant and sophisticated and can work in a wide array of styles.

K.FLY cabinet in cement finishing

Grey is considered a neutral color, but because of the plethora of shades that it has to offer, the number of looks you can create are practically endless.
Combine multiple shades of grey with white to create depth and interest, or use just one to keep it minimal. Darker shades of grey can be hard and intense while a lighter shade with pink undertones can give a soft and dreamy look.

What grey to use when

Having a lot of options is great, until you have to choose one. With grey having such a wide range, it can be hard to pinpoint which one is the best for a specific space.

K.ONE cabinet gray lacquered.

If you want to add warmth and light, pick a grey with brown undertones that will allow other colors to really stand out. This type of grey will give your bathroom a very elegant, yet cozy look.

If, on the other hand, what you are going for is more of an “edgy” look, a cooler, steel grey with blue undertones will help you achieve that. Use it on one wall to make it a focal point and make your bathroom more sensuous. This type of grey is perfect for a south-facing bathroom that is bathed in sunlight all day.

K.FLY cabinet in iron metal finish.

For small, windowless bathrooms, pale grey is the way to go. It will combine well with a classic white, while still creating somewhat of a contrast. Most importantly, with the right light, it will add a much-needed brightness to the room, making it feel less cramped.

Material combination

By combining neutral colors with different materials such as marble or wood, it breaks the monotone feel and adds a classy and expensive look to any space.

Marble

This material has been used for centuries in palace floors, walls and ceilings, as a sign of wealth and power. Nowadays, marble can be found in homes all over the world. Extremely unique, each piece of marble has its own veining pattern that can vary from very soft and uniform to busy and pronounced depending on where it was sourced.

Marble has become increasingly expensive over the years, because, unfortunately, there is only so much marble in the world. If you want the marble look, but don’t want to pay the ticket price, today there are an infinite number of alternatives that can provide the same aesthetic at a fraction of the price.

The best aspect of using marble, or its lookalike, is the polished look that will make you feel like you are in a vintage boutique hotel in France. The veining in marble combines perfectly with a grey accent wall or a white vanity.

Wood

Realisation in a Villa in Switzerland.

This material is a great way to add warmth to your bathroom. Wood comes in all different styles and tones, and they all go well with grey and white. Choose a light wood and minimalistic décor to create an interesting contrast while still keeping it contemporary. The natural and earthy feel the wood adds to the sometimes industrial look of grey and white allows the space to look softer and more inviting.

Realisation in a Villa in Switzerland.

Monochromatic

Another way to go is to use the same shade of grey all around, like in this next example. As you can see, the tone of grey here is pretty much the same all over, down to the towels and the rug.

However, it doesn’t look bland because they incorporated variety by using two different sized tiles on the floor and on the walls. This adds visual interest and makes the floor and the wall two completely different things.

The white grouting in the tiles ties the white in the tub and the vanity perfectly, with just a touch of warmth added by the wooden insert at the end. This bathroom is modern and harmonious.

Pop of color

In the complete opposite side of the spectrum from monochromatic is color. Grey and white both being neutrals that work together flawlessly, give you the opportunity to add a pop of any color you like. Whether it’s in a detail, or more of a statement piece, a burst of color will add a whole new dimension to the space. Try a bright yellow or a voguish pink and you’ll see your bathroom transform!

To discover RiFRA cement finishes: https://blog.rifra.com/en/focus-materials-cement/

Whether you want to go ultra-modern or keep it classic, grey has a way to work with you.
