How to clean your RiFRA kitchen

Don’t know how to clean your new RiFRA kitchen? We got you covered!

Using new and exciting materials in your kitchen or bath is definitely something fun. You get to boast about having it and reap the benefits in terms of durabilyt and style. However, what to do when it gets dirty, as it will inevitably do, might be another matter completely. To preserve the qualities of your kitchen or bath and insure that it will last as long as it should, it’s important to maintain it correctly. We know that when it comes to uncommon materials like corian, clay or technistone, the best way to clean it is not exactly obvious. That’s why we’ve created this small guide.

CORIAN

A countertop made out of corian will, over time, become much softer than its initially glossy finish. For this to happen equally and not end up blotchy, it’s important to follow the caring instructions.

Daily cleaning:
Liquids can’t penetrate the corian countertop, but it is best to get rid of any liquids sitting on it as soon as possible. With a damp cloth and a non-abrasive cleaning product, pick up the liquid using circular motions.

One or twice a week:
To get rid of all greasy residue that naturally occur when preparing food, use a solution of ¾ bleach and ¼ water on the material and let it sit for a few hours or overnight, no more than 16 hours. Afterwards, clean with a damp cloth. You’ll find your countertop is clean, without all the scrubbing!

For harder stains:
For stains made by liquids such as coffee, tea, vinegar, lemon juice, food coloring, ketchup, red wine or vegetable oil, use a soft sponge with soap with an ammonia base. Only use a sponge with bleach if the stains are particularly hard to remove like saffron. Rinse repeatedly with hot water, a soft cloth and non-abrasive soap in circular motions.

Keep hot pots and pans off the countertop, we recommend you use a trivet so you don’t damage the surface.

A few scratches here and there are normal after the daily wear and tear of the material, but to minimize them, we recommend using a cutting board.

CLAY / CEMENT

These materials have unique patterns and tones due to their handmade quality. They are covered by a nano-molecular acrylic varnish to protect them from the chemical agents of food.

Daily cleaning:
Clean using circular motions with a soft, damp cloth and a neutral detergent.

Once or twice a week:
For a deeper clean, use a soft damp cloth and a mild window cleaner.

Do not use:
Solvents or stain removers that have alcohol, thinner, acetone, trielin, ammonia, bleach, anti-lime scale or any product that is abrasive.

Do not leave any sort of liquid or dirt too long as it will leave a stain. Do not cut directly on the surface. Do not leave hot pots and pans unattended for long.

QUARTZ

This material can be cleaned with any general non-abrasive cleaner.

This material is very sensitive to strong alkalines (NAOH, KOH..) and fluoric acid. You can find these components in some cleaners on the market, so make sure to check labels before buying them. You should find cleaners that are adapted to clean technical stone (conglomerate).

Do not cut food directly on the material, use a trivet for hot pots and pans, as it can damage the surface.

LAMINAM

Laminam is carefully made with porcelain stoneware by wet grinding of clayish natural raw materials, granite and metamorphic, feldspar-containing rocks and ceramic pigments. Laminam surfaces have exceptional features, including heat resistance, hygiene and resistance to weathering, stains, scratching and have low water absorption.

This ceramic material does not contain organic materials, making it is resistant to high temperatures allowing hot pans or dishes to be placed directly on the worktop.

Food can be left in direct contact with the Laminam worktop: the surface is hygienic and resistant to fungi and mold.

Laminam surfaces can be maintained and cleaned easily and quickly, since it is resistant to stains. It has great resistance to scratching and deep abrasion even in case of direct contact with metal utensils such as cutlery and knives, which are normally used in the kitchen.

Daily cleaning:
Use warm water and, possibly, mild detergents (e.g. soap or worktop detergents), using a cloth or soft sponge.
Rinse with plenty of water then dry the surface with a soft cloth or paper towel.
To prevent an opaque film from forming, it is advisable not to use products containing wax. Do not use strong detergents or abrasive sponges.

Once or twice a week:
To remove stains or particularly resistant residues from the Laminam surface, we recommend preliminary cleaning with warm water and a mild detergent. If this should not be sufficient, use gradually stronger cleaning techniques, using specific products depending on the stain to be treated, such as: non-abrasive detergents with neutral pH, slightly abrasive detergents, acidic detergents (e.g. limescale remover) or basic detergents (e.g. bleach)

These are only a few general guidelines that are based in common sense. Your kitchen will come with a full information packet that includes caring instructions.

We know that this is a lot of information, and very general. If you have specific questions about how to care for you countertop, do not hesitate to contact us directly and we will be more than happy to help you out!
