A selection of top-of-the-range kitchens.
In this article we are going to discover what characterises a modern luxury kitchen, namely its design, the choice of finishes and the ” tailor-made “.
After these initial considerations, we will discover together some dream projects where our luxury kitchens are placed.
The dream of RiFRA, historical Italian company symbol of the “Made in Italy”, is in fact to bring in the greatest possible transparency, directly, without intermediaries, the design of Milan, and the culture of the beautiful and well made product, in the world.
THE DESIGN
The design of the modern luxury kitchen is based on these seven elements:
1. Doors and structures manufacturing.
Doors cut at 30°, 45° or flush with the worktop are one of the characteristics of high-end designer kitchens.
We have three main collections of luxury designer kitchens: ONE, FLY and ZERO.
ONE The ONE kitchen is one of the most exclusive on the market, with an all-Italian style
A monolithic island whose perimeter (top, sides and baseplate) is shaped at 45° with a thickness of 30 mm.
Completing the design typical of the One collection are the doors, which are also 45° shaped and 25 mm thick.
FLY
The FLY kitchen has sides and doors all cut at 45°, with a thickness of 22 mm, thus creating an unbroken volume.
KUBE
The KUBE kitchen truly looks like a cube, with extremely pure shapes, no handles, and no visible grooves or profiles anywhere in the cabinet.
The drawers open thanks to a sophisticated Push&Pull mechanism that allows them to be fully opened and closed with a soft-close mechanism.
2. Worktops
A further precious element that makes kitchens luxurious is the workmanship of the tops, which characterises every RiFRA kitchen collection.
The shaped top with different workmanship represents the soul of the collection.
The One has a 45° shaping, the FLY has a 30° shaping, while the KUBE has an internal workmanship that allows the space between the door and the top to be closed without thickness.
3. Custom-designed grooves
A little-known element that makes all the difference is the creation of custom-made grooves specifically for a modern luxury kitchen.
Almost all kitchens on the market are fitted with standard aluminium grooves that are basically the same for every manufacturer. We at RiFRA, on the other hand, for example on the FLY collection, adapt the design of the groove, creating it in MDF wood and then finishing it according to the customer’s choice and the rest of the finishes of the chosen kitchen collection.
4. Low plinth
An important detail that gives a designer kitchen its proportions is the height of the plinth.
The lower the plinth, the more proportionate and designer the kitchen, and the higher the plinth, the more unconventional and unattractive it is.
Standard modern kitchens have a plinth height of 15 cm, whereas our collections have a plinth height of 10 cm.
Even the ONE kitchen comes with a plinth height of only 6 cm, made of lacquered wood, shaped at 45 degrees. When installed under a ONE island, the island appears to be floating.
5. Lacquered or wooden kitchen cabinets
A characteristic feature of modern luxury kitchens is that they have interiors finished in the same high-quality material as the exterior of the kitchen.
In RiFRA the ONE kitchen and the KUBE kitchen have matt lacquered interiors as standard, while for the FLY they are available as an option.
Wooden interiors are available as an option on the entire range.
6. Steel and glass or wooden rails
The interiors are completed with the choice of rails, those mechanisms that connect the cabinet body with the door.
RiFRA adopts the top of the market in terms of technology and finish.
On the ONE we find brushed steel runners with total extraction and soft closing; on the FLY the rails are in black metal and available in steel as an option.
On the KUBE the rails are in lacquered wood with the mechanism that guarantees the total extraction and the soft closing mounted under the rail itself. As an option the customer can choose a wood finish.
7. LED lighting in tall units
A further element of modern luxury kitchens is LED lighting in the tall units.
LED lighting provides natural brightness for your pantry with low energy expenses.
Below are two photos of two RiFRA columns lighted with LEDs using the Tandem and Convoy mechanism.
THE CHOICE OF FINISHES
The choice of finishes for a modern luxury kitchen must be made so that the kitchen can be contextualised with the other materials in the home to create a dialogue between the finishes and colours in the room.
The numerous finishes that RiFRA offers (you can find a summary in this link: RiFRA Finishes).
Among the many finishes, those that lend themselves to finish the “most beautiful kitchens in the world” as those of RiFRA have been described by the news magazine TGCOM24, we point out those finishes applied by hand, textured and more precisely hand-spatulated.
This manual application technique means that each panel is different from the other one. They are:
Cement, available in three colours: Black, Slate Grey and Grey.
Clay, available in six colours: Snow, Powder, Ivory, Dove grey, Chocolate, Sand and Brick.
Metal, available in five finishes, Iron, Copper, Brass, Bronze and Cast Iron.
TAILOR-MADE
By ” tailor-made “, we do not only mean the reduction in width or height of base or wall units.
As “truly made-to-measure” we mean offering a design service, which on the basis of your needs and your project, leads to a personalised consultation and the elaboration of a ” custom-made” project.
Every house is different and every person, couple or family has different needs.
This is why we first start with a ‘tailor-made’ project for homeowners who are in the process of renovating or choosing a kitchen.
To help you in your choice we have created a free online design service; after a series of video calls with one of our designers you will receive a project of your personalised RiFRA kitchen with an economic offer, without any commitment on your part.
